Master of the Art Chris GustinWe are delighted to have Chris Gustin re-inaugurate our Masters of the Art show. Chris is the first artist to have a solo show at Celadon in over a decade. Chris is a studio artist and was an Emeritus Professor at the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth, where he retired in 1998. His work is published extensively, and is represented in numerous public and private collections. Chris is co-founder of the Watershed Center for the Ceramic Arts in Maine. The show will include sculptural, functional and wearable ceramic art. The opening reception will be a Celadon Sunday with gallery talks and a slide show.
Assistants & Summer InternsThroughout the season, the Guild is lucky to have dedicated artists assist in every aspect of the organization. They learn skills related to art-making, gallery operations, kiln firing, event planning, and more. This exhibit features the work of our talented assistants and summer interns.
Members II - Sculptural and Functional Clay Clay is such a versatile medium that has been used for millennia for every purpose under the sun. Our second selected members show of the season features some variety by juxtaposing sculpture and functional ware.
Wood Fired CollaborativeFor the clay artist, firing ceramics in a wood kiln is a special endeavor. It connects one to the past with traditional methods. It reaches all the senses, the way a campfire does with the wonderful smell, crackle and sight of wood burning. It brings communities together, as it takes many people to fire some very large kilns. This show features the wood fired work of artists from the Long Island Craft Guild and the CAGH.
Holiday Pottery SaleAnnual sale of ceramics by the potters of the Clay Art Guild of the Hamptons. This holiday event fills the gallery with a wonderful selection of handmade pottery.
